Chili

Stay warm on a cold winter night with a hot Bowl of Chili!

Crockpot or in a large pot, your choice! We made this in a large pot since our crockpot was too small. (Note, Carlton doesn’t really measure things out, he eyes it in order to taste good!)

All ingredients are organic and/or farm grown.

Ingredients

Serves about 10
Total prep time- 10 minutes
Total cook time- 60-65 minutes

  • 1 pound of organic ground turkey or beef (optional)

  • 3 cans of organic tri-color beans (pinto, kidney, & black)

  • 1 large yellow onion

  • 1 package of organic mushrooms

  • 3 bell peppers (red, orange, & yellow)

  • 1 small can of organic tomato paste (4-6 oz can)

  • 1 large can of diced organic tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp organic minced garlic

  • Chili powder (seasoned to taste)

  • Paprika powder (seasoned to tasted)

  • Cayenne pepper powder (seasoned to taste)

  • Salt & pepper (seasoned to taste)

  • 3-4 cups of water

Directions

  1. Cook the meat until fully browned and cooked. Add to pot.

  2. Sautee onions and garlic until golden brown. Add to pot.

  3. Julianne and dice all the peppers. Add to pot.

  4. Add tomato paste and diced tomatoes to pot.

  5. Add mushrooms to pot. Best to not sautee before hand.

  6. Season to taste.

  7. Add 3 to 4 cups of water to pot.

  8. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  9. If needed, take the lid off and continue to heat to let liquid evaporate until desired consistency.
